What is AirServer?

AirServer is a screen mirroring tool that allows educators to share their iPad screen through the AirServer software installed on their Dell laptop. Its primary use in many classrooms is to utilize the camera app on the iPad to serve as a document camera. The iPad can then be docked on an iPad stand for a hands-free experience. This setup allows educators to model, showcase, and display things on the larger screen.

How do I connect to AirServer?

AirServer is available for NISD Staff to install. Follow the steps in the slides on the right. Don't forget to set a password! This is a security setting which prevents unintended users from screenmirroring to your device without your permission.

Once installed, follow the steps below:

Step one: On your desktop, open AirServer.

Step two: On your iPad, swipe down from the top right corner and select the mirror icon.

Step three: Find your AirServer name and connect. If it is your first time connecting these two devices, it will prompt you for a password.

AirServer + iPad Camera

Mirroring the iPad with AirServer and opening the camera allows you to use your iPad as a document camera for live modeling and give you the ability to showcase student work. To use your iPad as a document camera, request an iPad stand by submitting a HelpDesk ticket if your classroom does not already have one.

AirServer + iPad Apps

Display ANY apps on your iPad to your TV with AirServer! Check out how these NISD teachers are using various apps around their classroom.

AirServer + Google Slides app allows your iPad to be the "remote" to click between slides, see your speaker notes, and give you a pen for annotating! All while being mobile in the classroom.

AirServer + Kami app allows you model digital annotation while being mobile in the classroom.

AirServer + ClassLink allows you to mirror anything from your NISD Portal. In this example, the teacher is logged into ClassLink on the iPad and opened the Origo Curriculum app to model and annotate on the math book page. Learn more about the ClassLink app on your iPad here.
